A NIGHT OF FIRSTS AS WOMEN’S HOCKEY SURGES PAST HAWKS
WORCESTER, MA. – On Friday January 10th the Anna Maria College women's hockey team hosted the Hawks of Hilbert College. The AMCATS would go on to win the contest 5-0.
The AMCATS would come out firing from the gate on the first period as they would pressure the Hawks getting multiple shots and offensive opportunities and chances on the Hawks goalie Tia Card. Card would come out strong for the Hawks keeping the score notched at 0-0, to end the first period. The AMCATS would end the first period outshooting the Hawks 21 to 6.
The AMCATS would come out with the same momentum and pressure in the second period scoring their first goal of the night on a shot from Trinity Kehoe two in a half minute into the opening frame of the second period. That would put the AMCATS in the lead over the Hawks 1 to 0. It would be all AMCATS in the second period, outshooting the Hawks 22 to 8. It would be the AMCATS to put their second goal of the game pass Card, off a pass from Bella Delordo to Morgan Daly to find the back of the net for the AMCATS. That would conclude the scoring in the second period, and the AMCATS would head to the second intermission up against the Hawks 2 to 0. T
Up 2-0 after the second period, the AMCATS would come out in the third period and break the game open continuing their scoring ways with a goal nine minutes in off a pass from Jordyn Bleaney to Emma McGuane who would get the AMCATS third goal of the game. The scoring for the AMCATS would continue as the AMCATS would continue the strong pressure and scoring chances with less than two minutes to go the AMCATS would strike twice to add to their lead against the Hawks. It would be Jordan Bleaney to get a shorthand breakaway opportunity for the AMCATS who would find the back of the net and put it home for the AMCATS. That would add to the AMCATS lead 4 to 0. The AMCATS would not take their foot off the gas as they would add one more goal before the third period would end with Emma McGuane getting her second goal of the game off a pass from Jordan Bleaney. The AMCATS would take down the Hawks 5 to 0, and outshoot them 61 to 16. Megan Tegethoff kept the AMCATS net empty making 16 saves for her first shutout of the season.

- Trinity Kehoe would get her first NCAA goal of her career against the Hawks.
- Emma McGuane would have her first two goal night this season.
- Megan Tegethoff would earn her first career NCAA shutout against the Hawks.
- Jordan Bleaney would have her first three-point game this season against the Hawks.
COMING UP:
The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday January 11, 2025, where they will host the Hawks of Hilbert College for game two in the matchup. Opening face-off is set for 3:00pm.
