RAIDERS TOO MUCH FOR THE AMCATS
WORCESTER, MA - On Saturday December 7, 2024, the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team would host the Rivier Raiders for a MASCAC conference game. The AMCATS lost the game 3-0.
The Raiders would start things off early with a goal about four minutes into the game. Unable to generate any offense, the AMCATS would find themselves still trailing as the period would continue to wind down. The Raiders would again strike for their second goal of the game to add to their lead before the first period would end. The AMCATS would head into the locker room after the first period down to the Raiders 1-0. The AMCATS would look to come out strong in the second, trying to find their offensive momentum against the Raiders. Although the AMCATS would find their defensive play to become stronger in the second, not allowing the Raiders to add to their lead, it would be the Raiders goalie to deny any chances in the second the AMCATS would try and have offensively. The second period would end with both teams heading into the locker rooms with the score still being 2 to 0 in favor of the Raiders. The third period the AMCATS would give it all they had, with offensive opportunities against the Raiders and taking as many shots as possible but it would be the Raiders goalie to keep the AMCATS off the board. Ultimately the AMCATS would pull their goalie with about a minute and fifteen seconds left to try and push the offensive opportunities against the Raiders. The Raiders would capitalize on the empty net scoring their third goal of the game. Despite the effort and opportunities created by the AMCATS the Raiders would keep the AMCATS off the board, and the AMCATS would fall to the Raiders 3 to 0.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Megan Tegethoff would make 24 saves against the Raiders.
- Alexandra Petersen and Olympia Myers would lead the AMCATS in shots both with 5 against the Raiders.
- This would mark the second shutout win for the Raiders against the AMCATS this season.
