WOMEN'S HOCKEY FALLS SHORT TO PANTHERS

PLYMOUTH, NH– On Wednesday February 12, 2025 the Anna Maria Women's Ice Hockey team traveled to Plymouth, NH to take on the Panthers of Plymouth State. The AMCATS lost the game 3-1 to the Panthers.

The AMCATS and Panthers would start out the period going back and forth both maintaining time in their respective offensive zones. The AMCATS would strike first as Carly Drew drifted into the slot to receive a pass the was going from Olympia Myers to Emma McGuane and tuck it back post on the Panthers goalie. Just under three minutes later the Panthers would find the back of the net on a scramble Infront of the net to tie the game 1-1. The AMCATS would go into the Locke rooms tied 1-1 and being outshot 10-1 by the Panthers.

The Second period would be mainly all Panthers as they would go on to outshoot the AMCATS 15-6. Just 1:38 seconds the panthers would find the back of the net on a sharp angle shot to take the lead 2-1. The AMCATS would get pinned in their end for the majority of the period, but strong play from goaltender Megan Tegethoff would help keep the AMCATS in the game. The AMCATS would continue to battle but would have to lean on their goalie to get out of the period only down by one.

As the AMCATS came out for the third period putting the pressure on the Panthers from puck drop. Tegethoff would continue to make save after save and keep the AMCATS in the game. On the other end of the ice the AMCATS would push everything they had to give towards the net but it would not be enough to get past the Panthers Goalie. In the final minutes to play the AMCATS would pull the goalie to throw it all at the Panthers, but they would end up skating it out of the zone and throwing it in the back of the AMCATS net. The AMCATS would lose the game 3-1.
