WOMEN’S HOCKEY SCRATCHES PAST RAMS 3 TO 2

WORCESTER, MA - On Friday, December 6th, 2024, the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team hosted the Rams of Framingham State for a MASCAC Conference game. The AMCATS won the game 3-2.

The AMCATS came out flying in the first period, getting an early jump on the Rams with a powerplay goal off the stick of Jordyn Bleaney assisted by Tessa Henry, just about nine minutes into the first period. The AMCATS would continue to pressure the Rams in the first, not taking their foot off the gas as they would get their second goal of the game off the stick of Emma McGuane off a pass from Carly Drew. The lead would continue for the AMCATS in the first as the AMCATS would tuck one more goal in before the period would end. The third goal of the game would come off a shot from the point off the stick of Alexandria Mupo to add to the AMCAT lead. The AMCATS would head into the locker room after the first up against the Rams 3 to 0.

The second period for both teams would include no scoring, but it would be the AMCATS to continue the offense, but the Rams goalie would close the door on the AMCATS. The defensive play of the AMCATS would be strong in the second, and even with the chances the Rams would get the AMCATS would keep the defensive zone strong and the AMCATS goalie would keep the Rams scoreless in the second period. The AMCATS would out-shoot the Rams in the first two periods 27 to 9 and would head into the locker room at the end of the second period up against the Rams 3 to 0.

Despite taking the early lead in the first period and maintaining pressure and the lead in the second period. The AMCATS would give up an early goal in the third period allowing the Rams to score their first goal of the game. The Rams would maintain the pressure and the AMCATS would have to stay strong in the defensive zone to keep the Rams off the board. But it would be with about six minutes left that the Rams would score their second goal of the game. The AMCATS would come off the faceoff of the Rams second goal strong putting all they had on the Rams goalie, but it would be the Rams goalie to deny any opportunities the AMCATS would have to extend their lead against the Rams. The Rams would continue to pressure the AMCATS and give it their all, but the AMCATS were able to secure the win against the Rams as the clock would run out and end the third period for a final score of 3 to 2 with an AMCATS win.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Alexandria Mupo would score her first career goal with the AMCATS.
