MARLBROUGH, MA – On Saturday February 1st , 2025, the Anna Maria College women's hockey team would travel to play the Framingham State Rams. The AMCATS would win the game 2-0.
The AMCATS and the Rams would play a tight contest beginning of the first period where each team would find their own opportunities on net. The AMCATS would work to keep the pressure going towards the Rams net and would end the period outshooting them 11-8 and tied 0-0.
The AMCATS would look to come out strong offensively against the Rams, with just under fourteen minutes to play in the second Carly Drew would find the back of the net coming straight from the bench and receiving a drop pass that would leave to a sharp angle goal right over the Rams goalie's glove. The teams would battle back and forth both pushing the pressure. Each team would end up getting 2 penalties during the second period. It would be the second Rams penalty that would cost them when Tessa Henry was able to blast one past the goalie giving the AMCATS a 2-0 lead going back into the locker room. Megan Tegethoff would hold her ground stopping everything coming her way.
The third period would start off right where the other two had, back and forth play while the Rams tried to find some offense to get the game back in their hands. The AMCATS led by Megan Tegethoff would hold the rams off only allowing 7 shots in the final period. The AMCATS would keep their foot on the gas trying to add to the lead they had currently. All 15 shots at the net would be stopped by the Rams goalie. The AMCATS would go on to win the game 2-0.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Megan Tegethoff would make a total of 27saves in the game against the Rams. Earning her second shutout of the season.
- Carly Drew would have the game winning goal against the Rams.
- Tessa Henry would lead the team with 5 shots on net.
COMING UP:
The AMCATS will be back in action on Friday February 7th , 2025, where they will host the Raiders of Rivier University. Opening face-off is set for 5:40pm.
