WOMENS HOCKEY FALLS TO PANTHERS IN SEMIFINALS

PLYMOUTH, NH– On Friday Febuary 28, 2025 the Anna Maria Women's Ice Hockey team traveled to Plymouth, NH to take on the Panthers of Plymouth State for a semifinal matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 6-1. 

 The AMCATS would come out into the semifinal game against the Panthers strong going back and forth for the first half of the period. The chances would come for the AMCATS and it would be the defenders and goalie for the panthers keeping them out. The AMCATS would look back to sophomore goaltender Megan Tegethoff as she would come up and make some big stops in the first period. The Panthers would score first with just under four minutes left in the first, as a loose puck Infront of the net would get tucked past Tegethoff. At the end of first the AMCATS would be down 1-0 and outshot 13-4. 

The second period would lead the AMCATS into a tough rally back into the game. The panthers would come back out fast and pushing the pace of the AMCATS. Th panthers would find the back of the net just two minutes into the period. Now down 2-0 the AMCATS would push back continuing to try and flip the table with the Panthers. As the halfway mark of the period would be in sight the Panthers would end up putting up another goal on the board. The AMCATS would make the change in net having Stevie Levesque try and help lead the charge to push back against the Panthers. The change would unfortunately not give the AMCATS the push the needed. Levesque would be sharp stopping some big chances that came her way in the second period. The Panthers would end the period with two more goals, as both teams would head back to the locker room with the Panthers leading the game 5-0

The third period would find the AMCTATS leaving everything they had out on the ice. Just :59 second into the period Olympia Myers would get the AMCATS on the board on the Powerplay assisted by Ceilia Nolan and Lauren Sundgren. The penalties would begin to rack up on both sides having a tough time gaining any ice for the AMCATS. The panthers would add the last goal of the game at the halfway mark of the final period. The AMCATS would continue to fight back until the final buzzer went off, but would ultimately fall to the Panthers 6-1.

 

  • The AMCATS ended their season with a record of 10-15- 2 posting their most wins in a single season.
  • Jordyn Bleaney would lead the team with 21 points in her senior year and would end her career with the AMCATS with a total of 61 points (25G, 36A)
  • The Seniors and Grads would combine for a total of 31 Goals and 28 Assists
