AMCATS COME UP SHORT TO THE GOLDEN WOLVES

READING, PA – On Saturday November 2, 2024, the Anna Maria College women's hockey would take on the Alvernia Golden Wolves for a game two matchup. The AMCATS would lose the game 2 to 0. 

The AMCATS and the Golden Wolves would play a tight contest beginning of the first period where each team would trade opportunities on net. The AMCATS would put multiple chances on net and continue pressure against the Golden Wolves but it would be the Golden Wolves goalie Stephanie Skorupa that would keep the AMCATS off the board. The AMCATS would have a promising opportunity, but it would be Skorupa to shut the door, on the AMCATS and Golden Wolf Emma Hart would take the rebound off the AMCAT opportunity and skate it down the ice, to strike a shot at the top of the circle and find the back of the net for the first goal of the game. It would be the Golden Wolves to take the lead over the AMCATS 1 to 0.The AMCATS would continue to trade chances with the Golden Wolves and the AMCATS would put everything they could on net, but the AMCATS would not be able to find the score board before the end of the period. The AMCATS would head to the locker room down 1 to 0. 

The AMCATS would look to come out strong offensively against the Golden Wolves, but the second period was a similar story with each team trading chances however both goalies would slam the door shut keeping the score 1-0 at the end of two periods. 

The third period the AMCATS would give it their all, putting everything they had into their scoring chances, to try and get the equalizer against the Golden Wolves. The AMCATS would stand strong on the defensive side of play, as well blocking everything they could, and getting help from AMCAT goalie Megan Tegethoff to keep the score at 1 to 0. The third period would continue to winded down, and the AMCATS would continue to put pressure on the Golden Wolves, with the AMCATS even taking Tegethoff out of the net to create an extra attacker on the offensive side of the puck taking shots from everywhere, and creating offensive chances however they could. The Golden Wolves would catch a break on the AMCATS as Emma Hart, would get the puck from the defensive zone and take a chance from the red line and score on the AMCATS empty net, to secure the lead over the AMCATS. Even with their best efforts, the AMCATS would lose to the Golden Wolves 2 to 0 despite their offensive opportunities and chances.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Megan Tegethoff would make a total of 24 saves in the game against the Golden Wolves. 
  • Jordan Bleaney would lead the AMCATS with 5 shots against the Golden Wolves. 
  • The AMCATS would have 9 blocked shots against the Golden Wolves in the game. 
  • This marks the second year in a row that the AMCATS would be swept by the Golden Wolves.  

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Friday November 8th, 2024 where they will travel to Nashua, NH to take on the Rivier University Raiders. Opening face-off is set for 4:40pm.
