Women’s Ice Hockey Draws Panthers

MARLBORO, MA: The Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team tied 1-1 with visiting Plymouth State University in overtime on Saturday at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, Massachusetts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Anna Maria junior forward Sara Sammons (Western Australia, AUS) scored the AMCATS first goal of the season 10:55 into the game, assisted by junior defender Jacqueline Howlett (North Haven, CT) and junior defender Abigail Vigliotte (Medford, MA), giving the home team a 1-0 lead in the first period.
  • Plymouth State found the equalizer with just 5:50 left in the game as junior forward Chantelle Ross (Ottawa, ON) found the back of the net, assisted by junior forward Addie Swanson (Eagle River, AK) and sophomore forward Robyn Grant (Airdrie, ALB).
  • Overtime was insufficient to determine a winner, resulting in the draw.
  • Anna Maria junior netminder Sam Dahill (Littleton, MA) stopped 30 of 31 shots on goal for the AMCATS.
  • Plymouth State senior goaltender Olivia Petito (Jacksonville, FL) had 35 saves in the contest.
