Cote Scores for AMCATS At Chatham

Pittsburgh, PA: Riley Cote (Tewksbury, MA) scored the AMCATS only goal as the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey opened a two game non-conference road trip with an 8-1 loss to the Chatham Cougars.   

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • With time winding down in the third period Cote carried the puck through the neutral zone and lifted the puck into the offensive end from just outside the blue line. The puck bounced near the goal and found its way past the Cougars netminder. Jordyn Bleaney and Raven Carriere were credited with assists.
  • The Cougars opened scoring in the first period with a quick pair of goals. The first came at the 4:00 minute mark from Trinity Antonio and was followed 79 second later by a power play goal from Cameron Carmody.
  • Cougars forward Ally Nolan recorded a hat trick, recording two goals in the second period. The second, a shorthanded goal with just over five minutes left in the period.
  • Nolan and Allison Corser-James each recorded five points for the hosts.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • AMCAT junior goalie Julia Smith (Chillwack, BC) recorded 29 saves on 34 before giving way to Juliette Barney who made 17 saves on 20 shots in the third period.
  • Cote's goal was her seventh on the year, tying her with Bleaney for the team lead.
  • Bleaney's assist was her seventh on the year leaving her two behind team leader Carriere who recorded her ninth of the season.
  • Lilly Rogers made 30 saves on 31 shots.
  • The Cougars outshot the AMCATS 54-31.

 

UP NEXT:

Anna Maria will be back on the ice on Saturday, February 19th when they will close out the 2021-22 season against the Cougars. Puck drops at 1pm.
