Women’s Ice Hockey Gets First Win of Season, Double Up the Wolves

READING, PA: The Anna Maria College women's traveled to Alvernia University on Friday evening for a non-conference matchup at the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex.

THE BASICS:

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The AMCATS scored a season-high four goals and senior goaltender Sam Dahill (Littleton, MA) recorded 42 saves to guide the AMCATS to their first win of the season.
  • With the fans just beginning to warm their seats, senior forward Grace Dodge opened the scoring for the AMCATS with her second goal of the year and second in as many games. Senior defenseman Abigail Vigliotte (Medford, MA) was credited with the assist.
  • The Wolves would respond with a power-play goal by Lexi Cooper in the second period and send the game to the final period with the score tied at one.
  • The AMCATS all-time leading goal scorer, Riley Cote (Tewksbury, MA) scored her first goal of the year to open what would end up being a three-goal third period for the AMCATS. Sophomore defenseman Olympia Myers (Grimsby, ON) had the helper.
  • Another Wolves power-play goal again tied the game, this time it was Olivia Gilida scoring the goal.
  • Senior forward Sara Sammons (Western Australia, AUS) gave the AMCATS the lead when she lit the lamp with an assist from freshman defenseman Morgan Daly (Media, PA) and junior forward Shayla MacDonald (Victoria, BC). The goal was Sammons' second of the season.
  • MacDonald capped the scoring for the AMCATS when she put home an empty netter with 46.5 seconds left on the clock.
  • Dahill finished the game with 42 saves on 44 shots and improved her record to 1-1-1 for the season.
