Women’s Ice Hockey Pillaged by the Vikings 3-0

SALEM, MA: The Anna Maria College women's traveled to face off with the Salem State University Vikings on Wednesday evening for a non-conference matchup at the Rockett Arena.

THE BASICS:

HIGHLIGHTS

• The AMCATS held a 12-11 edge in shots on goal in the scoreless first period.
• A key reason for that scoreless first period was a strong penalty kill from the AMCATS who did their job against a five-on-three opportunity for the Vikings.
• The AMCATS also had a five-on-three opportunity of their own but were kept off the scoresheet.
• Despite trailing by two goals entering the final period, the AMCATS kept their hopes alive by outshooting the Vikings in the final frame by an 11-4 margin. For the game, the AMCATS would hold a 32-31 edge in shots on net.
• Freshman goaltender Aurora Vanwormer (Swift Current, SK) made her first official collegiate start and recorded 28 saves on 31 shots on goal. This was Vanwormer's second official appearance, after making three saves in four minutes of relief work on December 3^rd against SUNY Canton. She also recorded a shutout in a 4-0 exhibition win over Assumption on November 27^th.
