Lyons Too Much For Men's Lacrosse

NORTON, MA. – On Thursday, February 28th the Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team traveled to Norton, MA to take on the Wheaton College Lyons for a non-conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 21-5.

The AMCATS started the game out with a goal less than a minute into the first quarter off the stick of Liam Bedenkop. The Lyons would answer almost six minutes later however Hank Gittines would take back the lead just ten seconds later making it a 2-1 game with almost nine minutes left to play in the first quarter. unfortunately the Lyons would go on to score four unanswered goals throughout the rest of the quarter.

After an early goal from the Lyons in the second quarter, Spencer Carpenter got the AMCATS back on the board with an unassisted goal just eight minutes into the quarter. Carpenters goal would be the only one scored for the AMCATS in the second quarter.

Anna Maria wouldn't see the back of the net again until almost 10 minutes into the third quarter after Eric Farrell took one in on his own. The AMCATS would only end up scoring one more goal for the rest of the game after Bedenkop scored just two minutes into the fourth quarter. The Lyons would continue to pile on throughout the remainder of the fourth quarter as the game ended with a score of 21-5 in favor of the Lyons.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, March 2nd where they will travel to North Adams, MA to take on the MCLA Trailblazers for a non-conference matchup. Opening face-off is set for 1:00pm.
