
Hussa Scores in the third overtime to secure the Victory for the AMCATS over the Terriers
PAXTON, MA – The Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team battled hard and refused to give up to pull the come from behind triple overtime victory against the Terriers of Thomas College on Monday March 24th, 2025. The AMCATS would go on to beat the Terriers of Thomas College 10-9 in triple overtime.
The game started as all Terries, as the AMCATS were trying to convert but could just not find the offense to score a goal. The Terriers would score the first two goal of the game off the AMCATS. It would then be the AMCATS to find their first goal of the game off a stick of Eric Farrell for the AMCATS first goal of the game. The AMCATS would then go the rest of the first half without a goal. The Terriers would score three consecutive times putting up five goals going into half and limiting the AMCATS to only one goal at half time.
The third quarter saw an offensive spark from the AMCATS which is exactly what they needed to get this game going offensively for them. The AMCATS would score three consecutive goals in the third quarter, and could feel the comeback win, in the fourth quarter. As the AMCATS would push the offensive momentum and skills in the third they would lock it down on defense limiting the Terriers to only one goal. The AMCATS would head to the fourth quarter down to the Terriers 6 to 4.
The AMCATS would need the offensive momentum in the fourth quarter if they wanted to win against the Terriers. The fourth quarter would be back and forth for both teams each trading opportunities. It would be the AMCATS to get four consecutive goals against the Terriers to start the quarter, taking the lead for the first time in the game 8 to 6. It would be the Terriers to then quickly fire back scoring two consecutive goals to tie the AMCATS in the fourth quarter. It would then be the Terriers to score their 9th goal first to break the 8 to 8 tie in the fourth. But it would not be long before the AMCATS would tie the game back up 9 to 9, and with both teams playing strong defense, the clock would run out in the fourth tied 9 to 9, and this game would head to overtime.
In both overtimes, the AMCATS and the Terriers would both exchanging chances and both teams having opportunities and it would be Caden Rakes for the AMCATS to hold down his net strong stopping everything the Terriers were throwing at him in the first two overtimes to draw the third overtime.
The third overtime would see both teams once again with chances, the Terriers had a golden opportunity, but it would be Caden Rakes to close the door on the Terriers and give the AMCATS the ball back. It would be Rakes to clear the ball out and the AMCATS would get it down field. Nick Hussa for the AMCATS would find the ball make some moves and go top shelf on the Terriers goalie to defeat the Terriers in three overtimes and secure the come from behind win 10 to 9.
