MEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO PILGRIMS ON THE ROAD

HENNIKER, NH- On Friday, March 28th the Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team traveled to Henniker, NH to take on the Pilgrims of New England College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 15-8.

The Pilgrims would open the game with two early goals in the first quarter. It would be the AMCATS to quickly answer to the Pilgrims cutting their lead by one goal off the stick of Eric Farrell. The Pilgrims would then respond quick to the goal from Farrell scoring two more goals to add to their lead now by three goals. The AMCATS would continue to fight getting one more goal before the end of the first quarter off the stick of Eric Farrell for his second goal of the game, to cut the Pilgrims lead to two. The Pilgrims were not going away and would get one last goal in the first quarter with about 6 seconds left to end the first up against the AMCATS by 3 goals with a score of 5 to 2.

The second quarter would go back and forth for both teams each trading opportunities similar to the first quarter. The AMCATS would get two goals in the second off the sticks of Eric Farrell for his third goal of the game, and Nick Hussa for his first goal of the game. It would though ultimately be the Pilgrims to add to their lead as they would put up four goals in the second quarter and limit the AMCATS to only two to add to their lead over the AMCATS 9 to 4 heading into half time.

The AMCATS would come out strong in the third quarter with two quick goals off the Pilgrims, which is exactly the momentum the AMCATS needed if they wanted to pull off the comeback win. The AMCATS goals would be off the sticks of Nick Hussa for his second goal of the game and Eric Farrell his fourth goal of the game for the AMCATS. The AMCATS would now be down to the Pilgrims 9 to 6 with plenty of time to play in the game left to play. The Pilgrims would be quick to respond after the two goals they gave up to the AMCATS scoring their 10th goal of the game and adding to their lead. The AMCATS were continuing to fight against the Pilgrims and were not giving up as they would stay right with them, as the AMCATS would score again to respond quickly to the Pilgrims goal off the stick of Nick Hussa for his third goal of the game. The AMCATS continuing to pressure the Pilgrims and find scoring opportunities, but it would be with about 32 second left in the third quarter that the Pilgrims would get their final goal of the third quarter to add to their lead 11 to 7.

The AMCATS would look to come out strong in the fourth quarter, giving it all they had against the Pilgrims if they wanted to force the comeback win. The fourth quarter would not go in the AMCATS favor as they would only find themselves scoring one goal off a pass from Jeremy Dewar to Nick Hussa for his fourth goal of the game. The Pilgrims would go on to dominate the fourth quarter scoring four goals and shutting down any offensive momentum the AMCATS would try and have after their lone goal in the fourth. The AMCATS would fall to the Pilgrims 15 to 8.
