More Than Just an Athlete: Devin White
PAXTON, MA: Anna Maria athletics dives into AMCAT student-athletes to get a more in-depth look at the upperclassmen and how they got to this point in their lives. This feature will be posted on Tuesday's throughout the fall.
Next, we look into a senior offensive lineman from the football team, Devin White (Worcester, MA). We got to ask a few questions about why he chose football and how his experience has been at Anna Maria so far.
What made you decide to play your sport? What about it inspired you to continue playing?
The reason I play football is that it is not for everyone. It is a challenge, and you are continually working and perfecting your craft to be the best player you can be. The mental and physical challenges football has put me through has prepared me for the obstacles life will bring. The family and passion we have here as a team makes me want to show up and compete every day and bring my best for the guy next to me because I know they are bringing their all day in and day out as well.
Tell us about the journey you took that brought you here to Anna Maria?
The journey that brought me here was not an easy one. My family and I went through a long and challenging process, and the family feeling that the coaches and players give you when you visit here is unlike anywhere else. At Anna Maria, our coaches are more than coaches, as they really care about you and want you to be happy and succeed on your way to a degree.
What is your major, and why did you choose it?
I am a criminal justice major. I chose this major because I have always been interested in the field. I want to make a positive impact in my community as a member of law enforcement.
What are your plans after graduation? What's the dream job?
After graduation, I plan to obtain my master's degree from Anna Maria and join the police academy to start my journey of becoming a police officer. The goal job is to become a detective, but I plan to start as a police officer in the local agencies around me.
How has your student-athlete experience been so far at Anna Maria?
My experience so far at Anna Maria has been great. I've made some amazing memories with friends who I will carry with me for the rest of my life, and have learned many valuable lessons throughout my time here.
