Athletics Joins Physical Plant in Community Service Project

PAXTON, MA: The Anna Maria Athletics Department is parterning with Physical Plant this fall in an initiative to help clean up around campus. The on campus community service project will involve student-athletes once a week throughout the semester.

"This cleanup project allows our athletes to give back to our Anna Maria community," said Assistant Athletics Director Paul Phillips.

The first group of athletes made it to the softball field this past week to help with grass removal from the warning track and infield. Baseball players Aiden Calcaterra, Seref McDowell, and Joe Yanelli and men's hockey player Grady Birk, Ty Lyewski, and Jared Figueroa kicked started the prgraom.

The Anna Maria Athletics Department and the student athletes also plans to coninue the Virtual Community Reading Program for local elementary schools that was started last spring.
