AMCATS Travel to Tufts University for NCAA Field Hockey First-Round
Paxton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College field hockey team will travel to Tufts University to take on the Jumbos in first-round action of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship tournament on Wednesday, November 13th. Game time will be 3:00pm.
The AMCATS (15-6) earned an automatic bid to the NCAA field by capturing the New England Collegiate Conference Championship. Anna Maria concluded a unbeaten NECC regular season (6-0) downing Regis College 3-2 in overtime to capture their second NECC title in as many seasons.
Tufts (14-2), the defending NCAA Division III Champions, were one of five teams selected in Pool C. Pool C consists of institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champions. The Jumbos fell to Bowdoin, 4-2 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) semi-finals.
This is the first NCAA appearance for AMC's field hockey team and it has been seventeen years since any Anna Maria team has seen the NCAA post-season, the men's basketball team reached the sweet sixteen in 1996.
