Lowe, Garczynski Earn Weekly NECC Accolades

Paxton, Mass. – Anna Maria College junior Nichole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) was named New England Collegiate Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week as announced by the conference office. Teammate Kayla Garczynski (Norwood, Mass.)was honored as NECC Rookie of the Week as well. It was the third time this season that the AMCATS have swept the weekly awards.

Lowe scored the game-winning goal 10:34 in overtime to give Anna Maria College their second consecutive NECC Field Hockey Championship. The junior captain took an outlet pass from midfield, streaked down the sidelines and deposited the ball inside the right post for the championship winner. Lowe also added a goal and two assists in the NECC semifinal game. Lowe was named NECC All-Tournament MVP.

Garczynski's goal in the second half of the NECC Championship game, helped propel the AMCATS to the come-from-behind overtime victory. The first year player connected on her second goal of the season when she redirected teammates Shannon Looney's drive from the top of the circle to cut the Regis lead to 2-1. Garczynski also notched an assist in the semifinal game against Becker College. She joined Lowe on the NECC All-Tournament team.

The AMCATS have qualified for the first time in program history for the NCAA Division III Tournament; they await the selection committee's announcement, for where and when they will play, slated for Monday, November 11th.
