AMCATS Capture NECC Regular Season Title, Breen Sets Shutout Mark

Paxton, Mass. – Freshman Destinee Lucier (Worcester, Mass.) dished out a career-high three assists as the Anna Maria College field hockey team downed visiting Daniel Webster College 6-0 on Senior Day at AMCAT  Field. With the win the AMCATS (13-6) post a perfect 6-0 record in conference play and capture the New England Collegiate Conference regular season title.

In a pre-game ceremony head coach Sharon Zenevitch recognized her two seniors Shannon Looney (Leicester, Mass.) and Nicole Morrison (Rutland, Mass.) for their contributions to AMC field hockey over the years.

Anna Maria goaltender Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, NH) made four saves on the afternoon to post her 6th shutout of the season to break the AMCAT single season record for shutouts. Former AMCATS Rachel Braier (2005) and Katheryn McCormick (2003) both held the record with 5 shutouts in a season. Braier holds the career-record for shutouts with nine.

Sophomore Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine) continued her torrid scoring pace posting two goals and an assist to tie the AMCAT record for goals in a season with 19. Freshman Kaitlyn Moran (Leicester, Mass.) chipped in with a pair of goals while Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) and Katherine Landanno (Winchendon, Mass.) each added single markers.  Junior Nichole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) added her team-high 12th assist in the win.

Anna Maria wasted little time getting on board, the combination of Lowe to Dalbec clicked at 1:20 and Lapierre found and open net two minutes later for a comfortable 2-0 lead 3:16 into the match.

Lucier then went to work with the helpers. First she would set-up Landanno for her fourth of the year at 23:29 and then assist on a duo of goals by Moran to round out the first half with the AMCATS leading 5-0 heading into intermission.

Dalbec would post her 19th of the season in the second half for the 6-0 final.

Daniel Webster finishes their season with a 1-12 overall record and 1-5 in conference play. Senior Samantha Crooker led the Eagles with three shots on net while netminder Teresa Moscati made 13 saves in the loss.

Anna Maria will next play on Wednesday evening at 6:00pm, they will host Becker College in the NECC Semifinal round.
