Cougars Snap Lady AMCATS 5-game Winning Streak

Paxton, Mass. – Freshman Kayla Garczynski (Norwood, Mass.) netted her first collegiate goal but it wasn't enough as the visiting Cougars of Clark University downed Anna Maria 3-1 in non-conference field hockey action on Tuesday afternoon on AMCAT field.

Clark was led by senior Talia Fish (Philadelphia, PA) who potted two goals and junior Kelly Hart (Oak Park, Ill) who added her first of the season.

The Cougars tipped the scoreboard first as sophomore Zoe Armstrong (Old Orchard Beach, ME) found Fish in front of the net with a nice tic-tac-toe pass off a penalty corner and a 1-0 lead heading into intermission.

Anna Maria held the edge in shots (15-7) and corner (5-4) in the first half.

Anna Maria would have an opportunity to tie the game early in the second half when Clark was whistled for trapping the ball and Anna Mara was awarded a penalty stroke. However, AMC's Nichole Lowe (Saugus, MA) couldn't convert from 7 yards out and Clark remained in the lead.

Clark would double the lead when Hart would score off a pass from Kiah Murphy (Westport, Mass.) in the 45th minute and Fish would add an insurance goal in the 56th minute.

Anna Maria would break-up the shut-out with twenty minutes remaining in the second stanza. With a penalty corner, after a Clark defensive miscue, sophomore Kylie Dalbec delivered a pass on the stick of Garczynski  to make it a 3-1 game.

Clark's netminder Christine Tinsman (Prairie Village, Kan.) made 14 saves for the win, while Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, NH) posted seven saves in the loss.

Anna Maria returns to action on Thursday night when they host Simmons College at 7:00pm.
