Dalbec Sets All-Time Record vs. Worcester State

Paxton, Mass. – Anna Maria College sophomore Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Mass.) dished out a pair of assists and became the Lady AMCATS All-Time leading scorer with 78 points (29 goals, 20 assists) in a 3-2 loss to visiting Worcester State University in non-conference field hockey action on Thursday afternoon at AMCAT Field. The game was the completion of a suspended game from September 12th.

Dalbec, who already holds the record for points in a season, went ahead of alumni Marybeth McClune's ('12) mark of 77 points set last season with her second assist of the game.

Before lightning struck in early September the Lancers had taken a 1-0 lead. Off a penalty corner, junior Kelli McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) delivered a direct shot that freshman Katelyn Carmody (Shelburne Falls, Mass.)  tipped past AMCAT goaltender Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, NH) at the 18:17 mark.

Anna Maria would tie the game at 26:52 with a Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) marker. Dalbec found the forward open on the right side and Lapierre deposited the ball into an open net for her seventh goal of the season.

With under three minutes left in the half Worcester State would break the tie. Sophomore Julie O'Rouke (Worcester, Mass.) would tip the twine net finishing off a scrum in front of the net.

Worcester State would push the lead to 3-1, when O'Rouke would find an open Victoria Watkins (Douglas, Mass.) for her first collegiate goal and eventual game-winner at 38:16.

Dalbec's record-breaking helper would come when she would set up junior Nichole Lowe's eighth tally of the season in the 40th minute.

Senior Allison Romano (East Bridgewater, Mass.) earned her ninth win of the season while Breen posted eight saves in the loss.

Anna Maria will complete the regular season on Saturday afternoon when they host Daniel Webster College at noon, while the Lancers will host Fitchburg State at 10:00am.
