Dalbec, Moran, Zenevitch Honored with NECC Awards

Anna Maria's Kylie Dalbec was chosen by the league's coaches as the 2013 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Field Hockey Player of the Year. The sophomore forward leads the conference with eight goals, seven assists and 23 points in conference play. Dalbec, last season's NECC Rookie of the Year, has five game winners for the AMCATS who went undefeated against NECC competition.

Anna Maria first year Kaitlyn Moran earned NECC Rookie of the Year accolades. Moran has six goals and two assists for 14 points in conference play this season ranking her second in the league in goals and points behind teammate Kylie Dalbec. It is the third time in three seasons that the AMCATS have produced the NECC Rookie of the Year.

Anna Maria head coach Sharon Zenevitch was voted Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season after leading her team to a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play. Over her current three-year tenure her squad has a 37-26 overall record and they are 16-2 in conference play with three appearances in the championship game and two NECC titles.

Senior defender Shannon Looney, junior forward Nichole Lowe and sophomore forward Kayla Lapierre were also selected to the All-Conference team.

Dalbec re-wrote the AMCAT record book in 2013, with career marks in goals (20), assists (13) and points (53), the sophomore now holds the AMCATS all-time mark in points (84).  Dalbec has six two-goal games including three in conference. She had the game-winning goal versus Becker in the NECC Semifinals and set-up the game-tying goal in the NECC Championship.

Moran blossomed into a fantastic two-way player for AMC. As a midfielder she was the lynchpin transitioning the ball from the defensive zone quickly to the offensive attack. She was named NECC Rookie of the Week twice and had a pair of defensive saves. Moran notched a hat-trick in the conference semifinals and scored the game-tying goal against Regis in the championship tilt.

Looney is the cornerstone of the AMCATS defense and in involved with the play all over the pitch. Looney posted two assists this season in conference play and will finish her terrific 4-year career as the AMCATS All-Time leader in games played. The classic "Looney Drive" set-up the AMCATS first goal in the 2013 championship match. Looney is a repeat selection as all-conference.

Lowe became the AMCATS all-time assist leader and posted a career-high eleven  goals in 2013, none bigger than the game-winning goal against Regis College in the NECC Finals. Lowe was named NECC Player of the Week twice and was honored as the NECC All-Tournament MVP.

Lapierre has her best season in an AMCAT uniform this season, the sophomore notched a career-high eight goals and four assists for 20 points. In conference play Lapierre finished tied for fourth in goals and points. Lapierre was named to the 2013 NECC All-Tournament Team.

Bay Path sophomore Anna Meyer was honored as the NECC Goalkeeper of the Year. Meyer made 88 saves during six conference games allowing 10 goals for a .898 save percentage.

Regis College has been honored with the league's Sportsmanship Award. NECC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches.
