Paxton, Mass. – The 2012 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) championship field hockey team was honored on Tuesday night in a halftime ceremony at the men's basketball game. The team was joined by President Jack P. Calareso, Ph. D at midcourt to be recognized for their season accomplishments.
The 2012 squad went undefeated in NECC regular season play and captured the title with a 4-2 home win over Elms College. With the win the AMCATS became the first field hockey team in school history to capture such a title.
Head coach Sharon Zenevitch captured her second consecutive NECC Coach of the Year award while senior Marybeth McClune was the recipient of the NECC Player of the Year. McClune concluded a spectacular 4-year career by becoming the AMCATS all-time leader in goals and points. Freshman Kylie Dalbec also earned conference hardware; she was named the NECC Rookie of the Year.
AMC finished the season with a 14-8 record and qualified for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference post-season tournament.
