Lapierre Leads Lady AMCATS to FH Victory

Paxton, MA –Freshman Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, MA) took advantage of a beautiful pass from senior defender Shannon Looney (Leicester, MA), scoring against the Elms College Blazers and giving the AMCATS a 1-0 victory in Saturday's non-conference field hockey showdown.

The AMCATS improve to 5-4 on the season, while the Blazers drop to 1-6.

The AMCATS defense performed perfectly, allowing only three shots the whole match. Freshman goalkeeper Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, NH) had two saves on the day earning her second shutout of the season.

On the other side of the field, the AMCATS dominated possession of the ball, taking a total of 17 shots in the game. The Blazers' senior goalkeeper Alexandria Bonavita (Agawam, MA) turned away 12 shots on goal, a streak which was finally broken whenLapierre scored off of a pass from Looney with three minutes left in the game.

The AMCATS return to action on Tuesday, September 25th at 7 PM to take on Clark University on Granger Field.
