Zenevitch Nets 200th Win

Zenevitch Nets 200th Win

Paxton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College field hockey team scored four second half goals en route to a  5-1 victory over Becker College.  With the win tonight, head coach Sharon Zenevitch has earned her 200th career AMCAT victory.

With the win the AMCATS pick up their first New England Collegiate Conference win of the season moving to 6-7 (1-0 NECC) while Becker evens their NECC record at 1-1 and drops to 1-11 on the season.

In a career that has spanned 4 decades, Coach Zenevitch led the Anna Maria softball team to 148 wins and 5 championships.  Tonight's field hockey victory marks her 52nd win pacing the AMCAT sidelines.

Coach Zenevitch got an early 1st half goal from sophomore Luigina Cerro (Beverly, MA) on a nifty feed from fellow sophomore Nichole Lowe (Saugus, MA).  It was Cerro's first collegiate score. The AMCATS defense played a strong half, keeping the Hawks off the scoreboard, and the teams entered halftime with the AMCATS leading by a single goal.

The AMCATS offense exploded in the second half.  Freshman Kylie Dalbec (Portland, ME) opened up the scoring three minutes into the half on a nice feed from Nichole Lowe, who had three assists on the evening.

Becker College junior Michelle Griczika (Barre, MA) had the lone goal for the Hawks, as she cut the AMCAT lead in half eight minutes after Dalbec's goal.  From there, the AMCATS scored three unanswered goals.  Kylie Dalbec scored her second goal of the contest while sophomore Nicole Morrison (Rutland, MA), and senior Marybeth McClune (Worcester, MA) each added a goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, NH) anchored the AMCAT defense, posting her sixth win of the season.

Breen's counterpart, freshman Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, NY) made nine saves in net for the Hawks.

Anna Maria returns to action on Thursday evening, as they host Lasell College in a conference matchup slated to start at 6:30 PM.
