(Nashua, NH) – The visiting Anna Maria College Field Hockey team scored a 5-2 win over Rivier University tonight in non-conference action.
The AMCATS (2-3) got on the board in the first half as Kayla LaPierre (Worcester, Mass.) put one past the Raider net minder at the 16 minute mark. Anna Maria senior Marybeth McClune (Worcester, Mass.) would give her team a two goal lead as she found the back of the net just 4 minutes later.
The Raiders (1-4 overall) would get their scoring opportunity in the 2nd half when senior Kristen Tyler (Thornton, NH) recorded her 6th goal of the season on a penalty stoke. The AMCATS, however, would answer right back as Lindsay Byrne (Littleton, Mass.) made the score 4-2 with an unassisted goal at 43:45.
Rivier sophomore Breanna Budryk (Tewksbury, MA) got the Raiders back with a goal as she knocked home a Lindsay Rettenmeier (Ashford, CT) pass at the 51 minute mark.
McClune and Kylie Dalbec (Portland, ME) would add goals late in the game to seal the win for Anna Maria.
Freshman Colleen Albert (Lincoln, ME) made her first start for the Raiders and made 2 saves in the first half. Classmate Danielle Moran (San Diego, CA) played the entire second half and recorded 9 saves.
Anna Maria will take on Worcester State on Thursday night in Worcester at 7 pm.
