McClune, Breen Earn NECC Weekly Awards

Paxton, Mass. – Senior Marybeth McClune (Worcester, Mass.) and freshman Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, NH) have swept the weekly awards issued by the New England Collegiate Conference for the week ending September 17^th.  McClune was named the NECC Player of the Week while Breen was tabbed the NECC Rookie of the Week.

McClune tallied 4 goals for Anna Maria in a 3-1 week for the AMCATS. At Rivier on Tuesday night the senior scored two goals in the game, leading the visitors to a 5-2 win. Ending a six year drought at Worcester State University, the power forward tallied the first goal en route to a 2-1 win and scored the game's first goal in a 3-2 loss at Elmira College.

Breen played all 280 minutes, made 28 saves, allowed only 6 goals and notched her first collegiate shutout in four games for Anna Maria. In a 5-2 win at Rivier University Breen made 6 saves and picked up another 6 saves in a 2-1 win over Worcester State University. In a trip to NY the keeper collected her first shutout making 5 saves in a 2-0 decision over Wells College and finished the week with a 12 save performance in a 3-2 loss to Elmira College.
