AMCATS COME FROM BEHIND FOR 3-1 VICTORY

Paxton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College field hockey team scored three unanswered goals in the second half to come-from-behind to defeat Colby- Sawyer College 3-1 today in non-conference action at AMCAT field.

Sophomore Nichole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) had a goal and an assist, while senor Marybeth McClune (Worcester, Mass.) and freshman Lindsay Byrne (Littleton, Mass.) each added a goal.  The Chargers were led by freshman Tayor O'Connor (Sanbornton NH) who tallied the goal.

Colby-Sawyer nicked the score board in the 24th minute of the first half.  O'Connor tipped in a nice drive from the left side off Katherine Keslers (Newport, NH) stick for the 1-0 lead.

The Lady AMCATS started their comeback early in the second half. After being denied on several opportunities, Lowe finally found the back of the cage off a cross from the left wing from freshman Kylie Dalbec (Portland, ME) at the 7:06 mark. The AMCATS playing a stifling defense and great transition offense keep the pressure in the zone as McClune tipped in a great pass from freshman Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) from the right wing. Senor Brooke Denver (New Britain, Mass.) made a neat transition pass to start the play from the wing.

Freshman Lindsay Byrne (Littleton, Mass.) sealed the victory just 95 seconds later when she completed a two-on-one with Lowe to make the game 3-1.

Freshman goalkeeper Mary Kate Breen was outstanding in net making several key saves to keep the Chargers at bay. She finished the day with four saves to pick up her first collegiate win.

Breen's counterpart Jodi Dumayne (Claremont, NH) made seven saves in the game.

Dalbec and Lapierre also picked up their first collegiate points.

Anna Maria returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Wheaton College for a 3:00pm tilt.
