Lady AMCATS Drop First Home Game

PAXTON, Mass.- On a cloudy afternoon at AMCAT field, Eastern Connecticut State University's field hockey team found the back of the net three times, resulting in a 3-0 win over Anna Maria College.

The first tally in the win column for the Warriors brings their overall record to 1-1. Anna Maria drops to 1-2 on the season.

The Warriors' sophomore Deisy Naranjo (Washington Heights, NY) broke the stalemate with 5:17 remaining in the first half with a goal off of a great cross from senior Hannah Collier (Watertown, CT). Collier added a goal of her own at the 31:25 mark of the second half, giving freshman Laura Chicorka (Enfield, CT) an assist. Not long after, Naranjo struck again, hitting the top shelf and giving Collier her second assist of the game.

Anna Maria had trouble finding any sort of offensive rhythm. While they were unable to capitalize on their six shots, freshman goaltender Brittany Marment (Leicester, MA) kept the game close, finishing with eight saves.

The Anna Maria Field Hockey team is looking to rally back this Sunday in their upcoming contest against the Monks of St. Joseph's College in Standish, Maine at 1:00 PM.
