Field Hockey Tops Framingham State, 5-2

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - Three first half goals helped propel the Anna Maria College field hockey team over Framingham State University by a score of 5-2 in non-conference action Tuesday night.

With the win the AMCATS improve to 11-4 and the Rams slip to 2-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The AMCATS jumped out to an early advantage just over four minutes into the game when Nicole Denver (Springfield, Mass.) scored with an assist coming from senior Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine). Dalbec scored a goal of her own just over three minutes later to give the AMCATS a 2-0 advantage.

Anna Maria added to their first half lead when Jacqueline Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) sent a long strike past the Rams keeper and into the cage late in the first stanza as the AMCATS took a 3-0 advantage to the half.

The AMCATS extended their lead to 4-0 when senior Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) scored a goal with an assist coming from Dalbec.

The Rams got on the board in the 40th minute when freshman Meaghann Ackerman (Littleton, Mass.) found the back of the net with an assist going to classmate Bailey Donelly (Framingham, Mass.). Ackerman scored again with an unassisted goal in the 54thminute to cut the lead to 4-2.

GOALTENDERS

Senior Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, N.H.) made 17 saves in net and Shelby Looney (Leicester, Mass.) made two defensive saves in the victory for the AMCATS.

Alexandra Ricco (Agawam, Mass.) made one save in relief of Rosemary Talbot (Whitinsville, Mass) who made 4 stops in her 35 minutes of work.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 17th when they travel to Southern Maine University for a noon start. The AMCATS will travel to Simmons on the same day for a 4:00 p.m. start.
