Lapierre, Breen Earn GNAC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

WINTHROP, Mass.--The Anna Maria College field hockey team has taken two out of three Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors, as junior Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) has been named the Corvias Player of the Week and senior goaltender Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, N.H.) was tabbed the Corvias Goaltender of the Week. 

WEEK THREE

It marks the second time this season that Breen has earned this weekly honor; she was also tabbed the league's top goaltender in the first week of the season. Lapierre earns the honor for the first time this season; she was also a recipient in week two of last season. 

LAPIERRE LEADS 

Lapierre had a hand in two-thirds of all AMCAT goals this week, as she totaled two goals and two assists in back-to-back 3-0 wins for Anna Maria. She had her best performance of the week in the team's GNAC opener on Thursday, in which she scored twice and dished out an assist to lead the team to victory. 

On the season, Lapierre holds a team-leading 14 points on the strength of five goals and four assists. 

BREEN SHUTS OUT OPPONENTS 

Breen earned the win in back-to-back shutouts this week. She made five saves in 24:16 of action against Elms, and was only called upon to make one stop in the first half of action against Mount Ida. 

Breen has started all eight game this season and has allowed 14 goals while totaling 63 saves for a 2.37 goals-against average and a .818 save percentage. 

COMING UP 

The AMCATS (5-3, 1-0 GNAC) wrap up September with a pair of game this week, first hosting Clark University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. before traveling to St. Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday for an 11:00 a.m. league matchup.
