Dalbec, Breen Named GNAC Player, Goaltender of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass.--The Anna Maria College field hockey team has taken two out of three Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors, as senior Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Mass.) has been named the Corvias Player of the Week and senior goaltender Mary Kate Breen(Londonderry, N.H.) was tabbed the Corvias Goaltender of the Week.
WEEK FIVE
It marks the third time this season that Breen has earned this weekly honor; she was also tabbed the league's top goaltender in the first and third weeks of the season. Dalbec earns the honor for the first time this season; she was a recipient of the GNAC Honor Roll in the first week of the season.
DALBEC DOMINATES
Dalbec tallied three goals out of the AMCATS seven total goals in back-to-back victories this past week. Two came in a conference victory over Lasell on Saturday, including the game-winner in the last minute of play.
On the season, Dalbec holds a team-leading 21 points on the strength of eight goals and five assists.
BREEN STEPS UP IN CLOSE BATTLES
Breen earned both wins this week with an impressive 30 saves, 23 of which were made in a double overtime victory over the Bears of Bridgewater State on Thursday. Her 23 saves were a new career-record, as she bested her 21-save effort against Bridgewater State during her sophomore season.
Breen has started twelve games this season and has allowed 23 goals while totaling 114 saves for a 2.19 goals-against average and a .832 save percentage. She has earned all eight of the AMCATS victories this season.
COMING UP
The AMCATS (8-4, 2-1 GNAC) travel to Nichols College on Thursday for a non-conference matchup starting at 4:00 p.m. before hosting the Raiders of Rivier University for a 10:00 a.m. GNAC contest on Saturday, October 10.
