Strong Second Half Lifts Anna Maria Past Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Anna Maria College Field Hockey team clinched at 4-1 victory over Colby-Sawyer in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon. The AMCATS improve to 2-1 on the season while the Chargers drop to 0-2

STORY LINE

The AMCATS scored three times in the second half as they spoiled Colby-Sawyer's home opener, 4-1 on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Colby-Sawyer was able to get more scoring chances than Anna Maria in the first half, outshooting the AMCATS 9-6, but was unable to get one by the keeper.

SCORING

First Half: The visitors broke through in the 23rd minute when junior Kaitlyn Moran (Leicester, Mass.) set up senior teammate Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine) who found the back of the cage.
 

Second Half: Dalbec opened the scoring early in the second half when she deposited a feed from junior Lauren Beauregard (Hubbardston, Mass.) for her third goal of the season. Moran pushed the AMCAT lead to 3-0 in the 41st minute with her second goal of the season on an assist from Dalbec. Colby-Sawyer snapped the drought in the 58th minute when freshman Jordan Teixeira notched her first collegiate goal. Anna Maria added another goal with four minutes to play. Beauregard connected with teammate Nicole Denver (Springfield, Mass.) who beat the keeper to the right side.

GOALKEEPERS 

 

AMCATS keeper Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, N.H.) made eight saves to earn the win, while Jodi Dumayne suffered the loss with three saves. 

 

WHAT'S NEXT FOR ANNA MARIA?

The AMCATS will host their first home game of the season on Tuesday, September 8th at 6:00 p.m. against Wheaton.
