Field Hockey: Shaw Named GNAC Player Of The Week

PAXTON, MA : Graduate student forward Allyson Shaw (Worcester, MA) of the Anna Maria College field hockey team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for the week ending September 26, 2021 as announced by the conference on Monday.

Shaw had a career day on Saturday as the AMCATS hosted Albertus Magnus College in conference action, singing the national anthem during pregame introductions before running down to the field and scoring a career-high four goals against the Falcons, while also assisting on two more scores.

As of press time, Shaw leads Anna Maria in goals and points. She is the first AMCAT recognized with a GNAC weekly award since October 20, 2019, and the first to be named Player of the Week since former Anna Maria great Kaitlyn Moran was honored three times during the 2016 season.

Anna Maria will be back on the field on Thursday when they travel to Bridgewater State for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
