Field Hockey Explodes For Seven Goals In GNAC Opener

- PAXTON, MA : The Anna Maria College field hockey team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday with a resounding 7-1 win over the visiting University of Saint Joseph in the GNAC opener for both programs at Caparso Field in Paxton.

- Records: Blue Jays of Saint Joseph (1-3, 0-1 GNAC) | AMCATS of Anna Maria (1-3, 1-0 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The AMCATS would score early and score often, with senior midfielder Chayna Bingham-Hendricks (Mashpee, MA) and sophomore forward Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) each tallying two goals with one assist apiece. Junior forward Madison Belanger (Marlborough, MA) scored in the twentieth minute of the game, assisted by grad student forward Allyson Shaw (Worcester, MA), for a goal that proved the eventual game-winner. Shaw and grad student forward Brittney Cherry (Worcester, MA) would also score on the day.
  • St. Joseph got their sole goal of the day from junior midfielder Makenzie Dinger (Hingham, Mass.) who cracked the attempted shutout with a score late in the third quarter.


UP NEXT:

- Anna Maria will be back on the field on Tuesday when they travel to Clark University for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
