Tickets Punched: Field Hockey Downs Bulldogs To Reach GNAC Playoffs

FRANKLIN, MA : The Anna Maria College field hockey team won 5-0 at Dean College on Wednesday afternoon in a regular season-ending matchup of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents.

With the victory, the AMCATS claim the eighth and final playoff spot in the upcoming GNAC Championship Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Anna Maria College sophomore forward Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) and junior defender Meghan Sonia (West Tisbury, MA) each scored two goals for the AMCATS. Sonia's goal in the 19th minute gave Anna Maria a 1-0 lead and proved to be the eventual game-winner.
  • Anna Maria senior midfielder Chayna Bingham-Hendricks (Mashpee, MA) scored the final goal of the game while assisting on two others.
  • Anna Maria grad student forward Allyson Shaw (Worcester, MA) finished with two assists.
  • Anna Maria junior goalkeeper Hannah Tobey (Falmouth, MA) picked up the shutout win.

 

UP NEXT:

With the victory, Anna Maria claims the eighth and final playoff seed. They will head to top-seeded Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. GNAC quarterfinal game.
