Spataj Named GNAC Player Of The Week

PAXTON, MA: Junior designated hitter Elijah Spataj (Cheshire, CT) of the Anna Maria College baseball team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for the week ending April 10, 2022 in an announcement by the conference on Tuesday.

Spataj exploded for the AMCATS this week, totaling nine runs batted in over four games, hitting .500/.471/.938 with one home run and four doubles. In the top of the tenth of Anna Maria's 7-3 win over Albertus Magnus, it was Spataj hitting the go-ahead grand slam.

For the season, Spataj is currently hitting .362 with two home runs and 24 RBI in 22 games. At press time, he is leading Anna Maria in runs batted in and is second in doubles with eight.

Anna Maria will be back on the field on Thursday when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State University for a 4:00 p.m. game.
