HIGHLIGHTS

  • Game #1
    • Junior second baseman Christina Villa (Concord, CA) led the game off with some firepower for the AMCATS, hitting his team-leading third home run of the season to left.
    • The AMCATS then padded that lead with two more runs in the second inning. With one out, freshman third baseman David Doherty (North Smithfield, RI) single to left and moved to second on a ground out by senior left fielder Tommy Sasso (Charlton, MA). Villa then walked and senior designated hitter James Power then brought both around to score on a double two right.
    • Sophomore first baseman Jeremy Rosenberg (Boynton Beach, FL) led off the third with a walk, and was moved along by a sacrifice by graduate student shortstop Kosta Drosidis (Holden, MA). Senior center fielder Hunter Dunithan then worked a walk of his own and a single by freshman catcher Brady Aylward (Southington, CT) loaded the bases. Doherty came through with another single to left to drive in Rosenberg and Dunithan.
    • In the fourth Powers led off with a single to right and then graduate right fielder Jarrod Marifiote (Framingham, MA) walked. Rosenberg's hit back to the pitcher led him directly to third base where he forced out Powers. Drosidis then cleared the bases with a one-out double to left scoring Marifiote and Rosenberg.
    • The Lasers scored runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings while keeping the AMCATS were held off the board in the fifth. In the sixth, the AMCATS again put up a squiggly number. Marifiote reached on an error by the second baseman and moved to second. Rosenberg walked and Drosidis scored Marifiote with an RBI double to left. Three batters later the AMCATS scored two more runs on an error by the third baseman on a ball from Doherty that scored Drosidis and Rosenberg.
    • Sophomore starting pitcher Nick Choate (Grafton, MA) went five innings allowing two runs on four hits while striking out seven to get his second win of the year.
  • Game 2
    • The AMCATS scored first in the second game but couldn't get the two third-inning runs to hold up. With one out Powers doubled to left and moved to third on a wild pitch. Walks by Marifiote and Rosenberg loaded the bases before Drosidis brought in the game's first run with a hit-by-pitch to score Powers. Dunithan then brought Marifiote home with a sacrifice fly to right.
