Baseball Drops Two Against The Golden Bears

Game 1:

WP (1-0): Kevin Hummer - 4.0 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 4 K
LP (0-2): Nick Choate (Northbridge, MA.) – 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 8 K

The AMCATS went down early to the Bears, giving up eight runs in the first three innings of the game. It wasn't until the fourth inning when the AMCATS started to build up some momentum off a RBI double from Jarrod Marifiote to send James Powers home. With bases loaded, Tommy Sasso got hit by a pitch to send Marifiote home for the AMCATS second run of the day. A passed ball on the next at bat sent Kosta Drosidis home to keep things rolling for the AMCATS in the fourth inning. The AMCATS put up two more runs in the fourth inning to shorten the Golden Bears lead to 8-5.

After going scoreless in the fifth inning, the AMCATS went back to work in the sixth putting up four runs on the Golden Bears. Now tied up at nine runs a piece the AMCATS gave themselves a fighting chance. However an error in the bottom of the sixth sent home three Golden Bears, giving Western New England the lead yet again. The Golden Bears put up two more runs to close out the game over the AMCATS 14-9. 

Game 2:

WP (1-0): Jared Kuryan - 5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 5 K
LP (1-1): Michael Shorey (Northbridge, MA.) – 4.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 5 BB, 7 K, 1 HR

The AMCATS struck first in game two with Hunter Dunithan wheeling home off a ground out from Powers. unfortunately that would be the AMCATS last run of the day. The AMCATS closed the game out behind the Golden Bears 10-1.

• Jarrod Marifiote finished his Florida trip with 11 RBI's and a .519 BA in 7 games played.
• Anthony Pingeton struck out 15 batters in two appearances during the trip with Jack Marzec and Nick Choate following close behind striking out 12 batters a piece.
