Baseball Scratches Past John Carroll 8-3

WP (1-0): Michael Shorey (Northbridge, MA) - 5.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 3 K, 2 HR

LP (0-1): Sylvan Wiley - 3.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 1 K

SV (2): Jack Marzec (Northbridge, MA) - 3.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K

The AMCATS set the tone early with back to back RBI runs from Jeremy Rosenberg and Hunter Dunithan to put the AMCATS up 2-0 after the first inning.

In the second inning Marifiote continued his hot start to the season singling with bases loaded to send Tommy Sasso home. Sasso set up the next two AMCAT runs with a singled RBI in the third inning and a doubled RBI in the fifth. The AMCATS scored again on the following play off a John Carroll error at second base.

After the AMCATS gave up a Home Run at the start of the sixth inning, James Powers responded by sending a nuke out over the fence for his first homer of the season. Shortly after, Marifiote singled for his second RBI of the day, putting the AMCATS up 8-3 at the bottom of the sixth inning.

Jack Marzec closed the game out putting up zeros across the board, striking out six batters in the last three innings, earning himself the save.
