Women's Soccer Stopped by Saints

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior forward Kelsie Dumas (Dalton, Mass.) rattled off a trio of goals to lift the Emmanuel College Women's Soccer Team to a 5-0 win over Anna Maria College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action played at Roberto Clemente Field on Tuesday night.

The win boosts the Saints to 9-8 overall and 7-3 in the conference. With the loss, the AMCATS are now on a four-game slide, dropping to 6-10-1 overall and 1-8-1 in GNAC action.

The Saints dominated the offense throughout the contest, firing off 46 shots to just three by the AMCATS.  Twenty-eight of the Saints' shots came on-goal with Dumas' eight shots -on-goal leading the way for EC.

Emmanuel struck early, getting on the board in the 28th minute of play, when Katelyn Fink (Sanford, Maine) fed Dumas streaking down the left side.  The senior captain buried her shot into the back of the net for her first in a three-goal night.

Dumas wasted no time, scoring again just three minutes later.  Following a corner kick opportunity for the Saints, freshman Hailey Longbottom (Princeton, Mass.) tipped the ball to Dumas, who played her shot past the Anna Maria goalie and the Saints took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

It was Fink who picked up the Saints' third goal of the evening, scoring in the 60th minute.  Sophomore midfielder Maggie Carey (Swampscott, Mass.) got her head on a corner kick and dished out the assist on the score by Fink, giving Emmanuel a 3-0 advantage.

Junior forward Hannah Konicki (Milford, Conn.) netted her sixth goal of the season in the game's 66th minute, scoring an unassisted marker on the breakaway down the left side.  Emmanuel held a 4-0 lead, before Dumas capped off the hat trick seven minutes later.

At 73:25, Maddie Barry (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) sent her pass up to Dumas, who played it past a diving Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine) and the Saints surged out to a 5-0 victory.

Dumas' three goals on the night give her a season total of 11 tallies and she now ranks third among the conference scoring leaders.

Freshman goalie Victoria Laroche (Hudson, N.H.) earned the win for the Saints, making one save in her 65:24 in net.  She was relieved midway through the second half by junior Jenna Marcello (Hopedale, Mass.), who played the remaining 24:36 and made two stops for EC.

Kneeland made an impressive 23 saves in her 90 minutes between the pipes for the AMCATS.

The Saints will play at home again this Thursday night, when Emmanuel hosts the Beacons of UMass Boston in a 7:00 PM start.  Anna Maria will wrap up the regular season on Saturday night at Suffolk University at 8:00 PM.
