Gorrivan Tabbed as GNAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass.—Freshman Emily Gorrivan (Windham, Maine) of the Anna Maria College women's soccer team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

This marks the second-straight week that an Anna Maria women's soccer player has garnered a weekly award, as freshman goalkeeper Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine) was named the league's top freshman and goalkeeper last week.

Gorrivan was responsible for netting both AMCAT goals last week, including an overtime game-winner against Newbury on Wednesday. The goal, fired from 15-yards out and drilled to the top right corner, was the first game-winning goal for the rookie. Gorrivan also scored the AMCATS' first goal against Newbury, breaking open nearly 70-minutes of scoreless soccer.

This week's goals marked the second and third for Gorrivan on the season. She is now tied as the team's points-leader along with senior Arianna Masley (Oxford, Mass.).

Anna Maria (4-4, 0-2 GNAC) will return to action Monday afternoon as they travel to Mitchell College for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game. The AMCATS will also host Johnson & Wales on Saturday, September 27th at 6:00 p.m. for the team's first home night game of 2014.
