Monks Too Much for Women’s Soccer

PAXTON, MA: The Anna Maria College women's soccer team lost to St. Joseph's College (ME) on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Caparso Field in Paxton.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Saturday, September 17, 2022
  • Score: St. Joseph's 5, Anna Maria 0
  • Records: St. Joseph's Monks 2-5-0 (GNAC 2-0-0) | Anna Maria AMCATS 3-3-0 (0-2-0 GNAC)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The AMCATS had early momentum forcing the play in their offensive end for the first 10 plus minutes but an SJC goal by Darcy Wright broke that momentum and set the tone of the game.
  • Sophomore forward Riley Michaud (Clinton, MA) was an offensive sparkplug in the somewhat misfiring AMCAT offense. She ended the game credited with only two shots on goal but spent much of the game trying to push the ball through the offensive zone before a smothering Monks defense would catch up.
  • DeAnna Baker (Lansdale, PA), a senior midfielder, joined Michaud in recording two shots on goal. She also had a shot that sailed just over the crossbar.
  • The Monks Madison Michaud scored goals in the 22nd and 50th minutes while Aaliyah Wilson-Falcone scored in the 35th minute. Wilson-Falcone was credited with the assist on Michaud's first goal and Sama Colatruglio was credited on her second.
