Women’s Soccer Comes Back To Tie MCLA 2-2

PAXTON, MA. – The Anna Maria Women's Soccer team hosted the MCLA Trailblazers on Sunday, September 3rd at Caparso Field in Paxton, MA. The AMCATS tied the Trailblazers 2-2.

The Trailblazers were the first to strike in todays matchup with a goal from Eva Bassallo 22 minutes into the first half. The AMCATS couldn't hold the Trailblazers off for much longer giving up the second goal of the game just three minutes later. Trailing by two with just under twenty minutes left to play in the first half, the AMCATS powered through to hold off the MCLA offense.

After a fifteen minute breather, the AMCATS started the second half with a bang, as Olympia Myers buried the teams first goal of the season just two minutes into the half. Cutting the Trailblazers lead in half, the AMCATS were given new life. Battling back and fourth for almost twenty minutes the AMCATS saw countless opportunities to tie the game up, but it wasn't until a corner kick at the 65 minute mark set up Riley Michaud to tuck one in off a pass from Macy Hutchinson to tie the game up. With two a piece, the AMCATS peppered the MCLA Goaltender Eva Eberwein for the remainder of the half. Unable to find the back of the net, Anna Maria closed out the game with a draw. Despite the final score, the AMCATS outshot the Blazers 20-8. Olympia Myers led the team with 6 shots (5 SOG) and 1 goal for the day.
