Women’s Soccer Drops Home Opener To Terriers 2-0

PAXTON, MA. – The Anna Maria College women's soccer team hosted the Thomas (ME.) Terriers for their first game of the season at home. The AMCATS lost the game 2-0.

With a quick attack to start the game the AMCATS put up a couple of shots to set the tone for the first half. Kortney Clark fended off her first shot of the game before Thomas rang one off the crossbar in a race to get on the board first. Just eleven minutes into the half the AMCATS were met by a Terrier goal. Just over eleven minutes later the Terriers struck again with their second goal of the evening. Trailing by two, the AMCATS fended off   Thomas for the rest of the first half. 

After a fifteen minute break the AMCATS came out swinging, outshooting the Terriers 12-5. Despite the offensive takeover, the AMCATS couldn't find themselves up on the board at the end of the game. Kortney Clark held things down between the pipes to give Anna Maria a chance to scratch back. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Kortney Clark Made her NCAA debut making 5 saves on 7 shots on goal.
  • This marks Neil Stamford's first game at the helm for the AMCATS.
  • This is the AMCATS first meeting with the Terriers.
