Women’s Soccer Soaks the Rams

PAXTON, MA: The Anna Maria College women's soccer team played Framingham State this evening in a non-conference matchup at Caparso Field. The AMCATS got goals from three different players en route to a 3-0 weather-shortened victory. Due to lightning, the game was called in the 71st minute.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sophomore defender Valentina Villa (Norwalk, CT) scored her second collegiate goal and first of the season in the 33rd minute. It had been just over a year since her last goal which she scored on September 4th against Mitchell college.
  • Riley Michaud doubled the AMCATS lead when the sophomore forward scored her team-high fourth goal.
  • In just her fifth game, freshman forward Abigail Smith (Hanscom AFB) scored her first collegiate goal to cap the game's scoring in the 61st minute. Just like the Villa and Michaud goals, Smith's was also unassisted.
  • Senior goalkeeper Alice Yokabaskas (Old Orchard Beach, ME) evened her season record at 1-1 while recording saves on both of the shots on goal she faced.
  • The Rams Jetta Oskirko recorded seven saves over the 71-minute game.

Anna Maria will be in action again on Saturday when they face GNAC foe St. Joseph's (ME) at Caparso Field. The teams will take the pitch for a 1:30 PM kickoff.
