Women's Soccer Falls to Bard in Season Opener

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY: The Anna Maria College women's soccer team opened the 2022 season with a 1-0 non-conference road loss to Bard College this afternoon.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Thursday, September 1, 2022

  • Records: Anna Maria AMCATS (0-1-0) | Bard Raptors (1-0-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Anna Maria senior goalkeeper Ashlie Rivera (East Haven, CT) was ever vigilant in net, facing 11 shots over the course of 90 minutes in goal. The loan goal allowed coming on a laser shot from about 20 yards out that snuck just under the crossbar at the 21-minute mark of the first half.
  • Graduate forward Keannah Dunsmore (Georgia, VT) accounted for half of the AMCATS offense, with two shots on goal.
  • The AMCATS other shots were by sophomore defender Abriana Morgan (Merrimack, NH) and freshman forward Abigail Smith (Hanscom AFB, MA). 
  • The game's lone goal was scored by Bard's junior midfielder Emma Kuntz (Williamsburg, MA). The goal was Kuntz's first of her collegiate career.
  • Bard sophomore goalkeeper Seymone Rosenberg (Cheshire, CT) recorded the Raptor's first shutout since September 8, 2019.
