Gorrivan Nets ECAC New England Rookie of the Week Honors

DANBURY, Conn.—Freshman Emily Gorrivan (Windham, Maine) of the Anna Maria College women's soccer team was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

She becomes the first player under third-year head coach Michael Schroeder to earn ECAC weekly recognition.

Earlier this week, Gorrivan was tabbed as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, becoming the second-straight AMCAT freshman to earn the weekly award.

Gorrivan was responsible for netting both AMCAT goals last week, including an overtime game-winner against Newbury on Wednesday. The goal, fired from 15-yards out and drilled to the top right corner, was the first game-winning goal for the rookie. Gorrivan also scored the AMCATS' first goal against Newbury, breaking open nearly 70-minutes of scoreless soccer.

Her scores this week marked the second and third goals for Gorrivan on the season.

Anna Maria (5-4, 0-2 GNAC) will host Johnson & Wales on Saturday, September 27th at 6:00 p.m. for the team's first home night game of 2014.
