Kneeland Named GNAC Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week

COMPLETE GNAC RELEASE

WINTHROP Mass.—Freshman Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine) of the Anna Maria College women's soccer team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper and Rookie of the week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Monday's announcement marks the first time in Kneeland's young career that she has been awarded a GNAC weekly honor. Last week, she was named to the weekly honorable mention list.

Kneeland had an impressive week for the AMCATS, as she played every minute in net in a 2-1 week. She started the week by earning her second shutout of the season with four saves in an 8-0 win against Pine Manor on Monday. On Wednesday, she totaled six saves in Anna Maria's 2-1 overtime victory against Massachusetts Maritime.

The freshman netminder saw heavy traffic in Saturday's GNAC opener against Lasell. Kneeland faced 40 shots, 24 of which were on-net, and recorded an astounding 21 saves. On the week, she totaled 31 saves, allowed four goals for a 1.30 goals-against average, and posted a .886 save percentage.

Kneeland has started all six Anna Maria games this season and has totaled 52 saves on the season. She holds a season goals-against average of 1.15.

The AMCATs will be back in action on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. for a non-conference matchup with Newbury College at AMCAT Field.
