Mount Ida Edges Women's Soccer, 1-0

NEWTON, Mass. – A strike by junior Isabelle Moody (Naguatuck, Conn.) with twenty-two minutes left to play led Mount Ida to a 1-0 win over Anna Maria College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

The shutout gave the Mustangs their first victory of the year (1-6), as well as their first GNAC win, as they improve to 1-1 in the conference. The AMCATS drop to 4-4 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.

Moody found the top left corner of the net on a strike from twenty yards out, beating Anna Maria keeper Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine), who made five saves in the loss.

Her counterpart, Mount Ida senior Nickole Soto (Marlboro, Mass.) made the only save required of her to earn the shutout in just her second game as a keeper this year.

The Mustangs outshot the AMCATS 20-5 and had six chances from the corner flag to just one by the AMCATS.

Moody fired 11 of the Mustang's shots, including three of them on target.

The only strike on goal for Anna Maria came off the foot of sophomore Melissa Andersen (Oxford, Mass.).

Anna Maria travels to Mitchell on Monday for a 4:00 pm non-conference game.
